In SUPY, items must be active in both the source and destination locations to be transferred. If an item is not activated in the destination location, SUPY will block the transfer entirely.
This commonly occurs when new locations are added, items are selectively activated, or activation checks are skipped before creating a transfer.
When an item is not active in the destination location:
SUPY displays an error stating the item is not active in the destination location
The transfer cannot be submitted
No stock is deducted from the source location
No stock is added to the destination location
Operations are delayed until the item is activated
This behavior prevents partial or incorrect stock movement, but it can interrupt workflows if not addressed promptly.
You may notice:
An error popup when attempting to submit a transfer
Messaging indicating the item is not active in the destination location
Users unable to proceed past the transfer screen
Transfers blocked even though quantities and units appear correct
In SUPY:
Item availability is location-specific
Transfers require the item to be active in both locations
If an item is inactive in the destination location, SUPY prevents the transfer from being created
This typically happens when:
New branches or locations are added
Items are activated in some locations but not others
Activation checks are skipped before initiating transfers
To avoid blocked transfers:
Ensure items are activated in all relevant locations
Review item activation before creating transfer events
Use bulk activation for items shared across multiple locations
Include activation checks as part of transfer SOPs
Go to Repository → Items
Search for and select the affected item
Use Actions → Add to Locations
Activate the destination location
Return to the transfer and submit it again
If a transfer cannot be submitted, always check item activation first before investigating quantities, units, or stock balances.
Correct item activation ensures:
Smooth inter-location transfers
Zero partial or missing stock movements
Accurate inventory balances
Clean variance and reporting data
SUPY blocks transfers by design when items are inactive — proper activation keeps operations moving without interruption.
